Ministry of Internal Affairs speaks against distinct criminal liability for social engineering
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has opposed distinct criminal liability for phishing, social engineering, gluing bills together, and stealing SIM cards. The police believe that these crimes can be regulated by already existing articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. This follows from the letter from the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Department of Information Technology, Communications and Information Protection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Yuri Voinov, as reported by RBC.
